How to use them

Apply a small amount to the area and massage in. A little goes a long way at these concentrations — start with less than you think you need, and reapply as you like. Wash your hands afterward if you've used anything mentholated, particularly before touching your eyes.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sun. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Tested every batch

An independent lab tests every batch for cannabinoid potency and for THC, pesticides, heavy metals, and residual solvents, and we publish the certificate of analysis before a product goes on sale. Things to know before you buy

Salve, balm, roll-on, cream, or oil

They differ mostly in texture and how you apply them. The salve is firm and concentrated, worked in by hand. The arnica balm is our most concentrated formula. The roll-on glides on without contact — the practical advantage when you're reaching behind yourself or don't want it on your fingers. The foot cream is thicker and absorbs slowly. The massage oil is the only one designed not to absorb quickly, which is exactly what makes it work for a massage and impractical for anything else.

What arnica is doing in there

Arnica is a flowering plant in the sunflower family, used in topical preparations for a long time before anyone put CBD in anything. It appears in two products here — the 600 mg roll-on and the 6,000 mg arnica balm — alongside the cannabinoids rather than instead of them. If you're allergic to ragweed, marigolds, daisies, or chrysanthemums, note that arnica is in the same plant family and cross-reactivity is possible.

Why the numbers are so much bigger than on a gummy

A 6,000 mg salve isn't a hundred times stronger than a 50 mg gummy. A topical's milligram count covers the entire jar and gets spread across an area of skin, where an ingestible's covers a single dose. Topicals also stay largely in the layers of the skin rather than entering the bloodstream, which is a different route entirely. The two numbers aren't comparable — compare topicals to other topicals, and look at milligrams relative to jar size.

Choosing a strength

The salve runs from 500 mg to 6,000 mg in the same size jar, so what changes is concentration rather than quantity. If you're new to topicals, start lower and see how you get on. If you already use them and go through a jar steadily, the higher strengths work out cheaper per milligram — and you can simply use less.

Scent matters more than you'd think

All our scents come from essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance, which means they're genuine rather than perfume-like — and also that they're strong. These get used on hands, feet, shoulders, and necks, where you'll smell them for hours. The roll-on and eucalyptus salve are noticeably mentholated. The unscented salve and unscented massage oil exist for people using something at work or before bed.

Ingredients and allergens

Made with organic coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oils. Our massage oil contains sweet almond oil, and several products contain coconut oil — the FDA classifies both almond and coconut as tree nuts. Two products contain arnica, which shares a plant family with ragweed and daisies. Beeswax means most of these are not vegan. Full ingredient lists are on every product page.
