Four formulations, and how to tell them apart

Each formulation has its own flavor, so the flavor tells you what's in the bottle.

• CBD Isolate — peppermint, 1,000 to 4,000 mg. Purified CBD, THC-free, no hemp aroma. The widest strength range we offer.
• Full Spectrum — strawberry, 1,000 to 3,000 mg. The complete range of hemp cannabinoids and terpenes, including trace THC under the federal 0.3% limit.
• CBD + CBG — coconut, 2,000 and 4,000 mg. Pairs CBD with CBG, a distinct cannabinoid that appears in hemp in much smaller quantities.
• CBD + CBN — lemon, 2,000 and 4,000 mg. Pairs CBD with CBN. Our only tincture containing CBN.
• Pet tinctures — , in all three formulations: isolate (250, 500, 1,000, 2,000 mg), full spectrum (500, 1,000, 2,000 mg), and CBD + CBG (500, 1,000, 2,000 mg). Formulated for dogs and cats.

How to use a tincture

Shake the bottle. Draw oil into the dropper, place it under your tongue, and hold for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing — that's what makes a tincture a tincture, and skipping it turns it into a slower-acting edible. Start with a small amount, stay with it for a few days, and adjust from there.

Store upright in a cool, dark place. Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any medication, particularly anything metabolized by the liver. Hemp-derived CBD is federally legal, but state rules vary — check yours before ordering.

Tested every batch

An independent lab tests every batch for cannabinoid potency and contaminants, and we publish the certificate of analysis before a product goes on sale. Come try them at our Westminster storefront, open six days a week, or at roughly 100 Front Range farmers markets a year.

Things to know before you buy

One bottle, four ways to use it

A tincture is the most flexible thing we make. The same bottle can be used four different ways, which is the main practical difference between an oil and a gummy.

• Under the tongue. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. This is the fastest route and the one most people use.
• Swallowed straight. Skip the hold and it behaves like an edible — slower to take effect, since it goes through digestion first.
• On your skin. Rub a few drops directly onto a specific spot. Our topicals are formulated for this, but the oil works.
• In food. Stir it into a smoothie, coffee, dressing, or anything you're not heating hard. Flavor matters here — the coconut and lemon carry well; the peppermint is assertive.

A gummy does exactly one of those, at one fixed amount. If you want to vary how much you take or how you take it, an oil is the format that allows it.

Working out what a dose actually is

The number on the bottle is the total for the whole bottle, not per dose. The dropper holds about 1 ml regardless of bottle size, so a bigger bottle doesn't mean a bigger dropper — it means more droppers.

What changes the strength of a single dropper is concentration. In a 30 ml bottle, a full dropper is a thirtieth of the contents: about 67 mg from a 2,000 mg bottle, or about 133 mg from a 4,000 mg bottle. In a 60 ml bottle it's a sixtieth — about 33 mg and about 67 mg respectively.

So a higher-milligram bottle isn't automatically "more." It's more concentrated, and you use less of it. Compare price per milligram rather than price per bottle; the stronger bottles usually work out cheaper.

Full spectrum contains THC. The other three don't.

Our strawberry full spectrum tincture retains trace THC below the federal limit. The peppermint isolate, coconut CBD + CBG, and lemon CBD + CBN tinctures are all isolate-based and THC-free. Pet tinctures are a different product

Our beef-flavored range is formulated and dosed for animals, which is why it runs from 250 mg where the human range starts at 1,000. Don't substitute a human tincture for a pet one, or scale a human dose down by guesswork. Note that the pet full spectrum tincture contains trace THC, as the human version does — if that's a concern, the beef isolate is the THC-free option. Talk to your vet before starting any CBD product with an animal, particularly one on medication.
