Things to know before you buy

What order to apply them in

Thinnest to thickest. Serum first on clean skin, then eye serum around the orbital bone, then face cream or tallow balm to seal everything in. Lip balm or gloss last. The mask is a weekly step used before the serum, not alongside it. Most people use a serum, a moisturizer, and a lip product daily and add the mask as needed — you don't need all seven.

Where to start

The face cream is the everyday workhorse and the easiest entry point. Choose the tallow balm instead if your skin runs very dry or it's winter; use the serum underneath either one if you want more slip and hydration.

Why there's tallow in a face product

Grass-fed tallow has a fatty acid profile close to the lipids skin produces on its own, so it absorbs readily and sits well under makeup despite being rich. It's a traditional skincare ingredient that predates petroleum-based moisturizers by thousands of years. It suits dry, mature, and winter-stressed skin best — if your skin is oily or breakout-prone, start with the face cream or serum. The tallow balm is animal-derived, and [CONFIRM which products contain beeswax]; [ADD which products are fully plant-based].

These use CBD isolate, not full spectrum

Leanna Organics face care is formulated with CBD isolate — purified CBD with no detectable THC, and no hemp aroma competing with the botanicals. Topical CBD also stays largely in the layers of the skin rather than entering the bloodstream the way an ingestible does. If you're comparing formulations across the range, our full spectrum vs. isolate guide covers the difference.

What's in them, and what isn't

Organic, cold-pressed botanical oils, formulated without parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrance. Full ingredient lists are on every product page — worth reading if you have known sensitivities, since several formulas contain nut-derived oils and beeswax.

Shelf life and storage

Because these are made without synthetic preservatives, with a shelf life of 12  months once opened. Oils in this collection are 18 month once opened. Store away from direct sun and out of a steamy bathroom; heat and light degrade botanical oils faster than time alone does. Use clean, dry fingers or a small spatula with the balm and mask, since introducing water into an anhydrous formula is what shortens its life most.

Patch test first

These are concentrated botanical formulas. Apply a small amount to your inner forearm and wait 24 hours before using on your face, particularly if your skin is sensitive or reactive.

It matters less than it does in a tincture, and differently. What counts topically is concentration relative to the size of the jar and how much surface area you're covering — 500 mg in a 1.7 oz face cream is a meaningfully different concentration than 500 mg in a 4 oz body cream. Our face products run 70-500 mg. We list the exact amount and container size on every product page so you can compare directly rather than guess.
No on both counts. CBD isn't intoxicating in any form, and our face care uses CBD isolate — purified CBD with no detectable THC. Topical products also stay largely in the layers of the skin rather than entering the bloodstream the way an ingested product does. If you're subject to workplace or athletic testing and want the detail, our CBD vs. THC guide covers what does and doesn't show on a screen.
