HOW CBD WORKS

How CBD works ECS System

Leanna Organics offers a large selection of CBD products to balance your endocannabinoid system.

If you are new to CBD, you may be slightly overwhelmed and confused, and we get it. After all, CBD is different than traditional solutions – it is more accessible, plant-based, and can be used not only to address a variety of concerns but also can be swallowed, taken sublingually, inhaled, rubbed directly onto the skin, and more.

You may wonder how CBD works and if this natural remedy is right for you.

Other common questions we hear at our CBD store in Westminster, CO, are: What is the difference between CBD vs THC? How does hemp differ from marijuana? What is the difference between hemp seed oil vs CBD? And what is full-spectrum CBD oil vs CBD isolate?

If those questions run through your mind, you are in the right place!

At Leanna Organics, our goal is to translate the unfamiliar world of CBD extracts into daily use with plant-based remedies for skincare and wellness. We answer those questions and more in this article and offer free CBD samples so that you can try our nature-based solution before buying!

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD is a compound in a class called Cannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with what scientists have identified as the "endocannabinoid system" in humans and animals. Cannabinoids appear in nature in the cannabis plant and endogenously in all mammals. Cannabinoids that come from plants are called phytocannabinoids. In contrast, the ones that our bodies make naturally are called endocannabinoids.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is not intoxicating – in other words, it is not mind-altering.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural compound in hemp and marijuana plants. CBD is the most prevalent cannabinoid in the hemp plant, as opposed to THC, which is generally the most prevalent cannabinoid in the Marijuana plant.

WILL IT SHOW UP ON A DRUG TEST?

The "high" that marijuana is known for, and what is tested for in a drug test, is the compound called THC. Many people who are researching how CBD works are concerned about THC. Leanna Organics CBD is grown from Industrial hemp, not marijuana, and we use "zero THC" CBD in most of our products. However, even "zero THC" CBD has trace amounts of THC. Therefore, those who get drug tested should be cautious of using Leanna Organics CBD or any CBD, as there is no way to remove THC from the hemp plant altogether.

WHAT DOES YOUR TAGLINE "ACHIEVE BALANCE" MEAN?

The endocannabinoid system is a balancing system; it up-regulates and downregulates genes in response to what is going on in the body and environment. Our bodies signal and respond via the endocannabinoid system based on what we eat, how we move, how much sleep quality, thoughts and moods, and environmental factors. All this signaling and responding, up and down regulating, is our body's attempt to find homeostasis.

The latest research into how CBD works suggest that CBD provokes the production of internally produced endocannabinoids instead of binding directly to CB1 or CB2 receptors.

Thus, taking CBD or rubbing it onto the skin is said to help balance the endocannabinoid system.

CBD IS LEGAL!!!

On December 20, 2018, President Trump signed the Hemp Farming Act of 2018. Thus, Legalizing CBD nationwide. CBD manufacturers must prove that their CBD is grown from hemp and contains less than .3% THC. All Leanna Organics orders ship with third-party independent testing results. Equally and arguably more important than how CBD works is that you can consume CBD and use topical CBD without the fear of breaking the law.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD GROWN FROM THE MARIJUANA PLANT AND CBD GROWN FROM HEMP?

Understanding the difference between CBD grown from hemp vs marijuana is vital for those researching how CBD works. Leanna Organics CBD, and any CBD that contains .3% THC or less, is considered industrial hemp. CBD comes from hemp, but some strains of marijuana have CBD. Products with THC & CBD appear in dispensaries in states that have a medical marijuana program or recreational program.

HOW CAN CBD HELP?

Researchers have nicknamed CBD the "Swiss army knife" because it is versatile and addresses a broad range of concerns in the body and mind. CBD is classified as a supplement because it replaces or stimulates our bodies' internal compounds, like anandamide and 2-AG. How CBD works is by making more manageable what bothers you. CBD does not treat, cure or prevent any disease. However, CBD makes life easier. It helps you rest better at night, promotes calmness, and addresses body discomfort.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD VS THC?

CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are compounds in the cannabis plant. While they are related, they have some critical differences regarding their effects on the body and their legal status. One of the main differences between CBD and THC is that CBD does not have the intoxicating effects that THC does. This means that when you take CBD, you will not experience the "high" associated with marijuana use. Instead, CBD is thought to have therapeutic effects which help with body discomfort, calmness, and restfulness. Additionally, CBD interacts with CB2 neurons in the skin, so CBD has skincare benefits.

Another difference between the two compounds is their legal status. THC is still considered a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States, meaning it is illegal under federal law. However, many states have legalized marijuana for medical or recreational use, which means that THC is now legal in those states. CBD, on the other hand, is legal in all 50 states as long as it is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC.

CBD and THC also interact with the body in different ways. THC binds to CB1 receptors in the brain, which is why it produces its psychoactive effects. CBD, on the other hand, does not bind to these receptors but instead interacts with other receptors in the body, such as the TRPV-1 receptor and CB2 neuron receptors.

WILL CBD INTERACT WITH MEDICATION?

As of August 2020, over 57 medications have been discovered to have drug interactions with CBD. It is always best to consult a physician if you are concerned about CBD interacting with your medicine. However, the grapefruit warning is a good rule of thumb. If your medication warns against eating grapefruits, you should also abstain from CBD (unless recommended by your doctor).

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP SEED OIL VS CBD?

Hemp oil and CBD oil are derived from the hemp plant but are different products with different uses.

Hemp seed oil is made by pressing the seeds of the hemp plant. It is a carrier oil, meaning it is used to dilute essential oils and other concentrated plant extracts. It is also used as a cooking oil and a base for skincare and haircare products. Hemp seed oil is a good source of healthy fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, but it does not contain CBD or other cannabinoids.

CBD oil, on the other hand, is made by extracting CBD from the leaves, flowers, and stalks of the hemp plant. It is a concentrated extract that contains high levels of CBD and other cannabinoids, such as CBG, CBN, and CBC, and is used for its potential skincare and wellness effects.

WHAT IS FULL-SPECTRUM CBD OIL VS CBD ISOLATE?

Full-spectrum CBD oil and CBD isolate are both forms of CBD, but they have different properties and uses.

Full-spectrum CBD oil is made by extracting all the compounds from the hemp plant, including CBD, other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids. These compounds work together in a process known as the "entourage effect" to enhance the potential therapeutic effects of CBD. Full-spectrum CBD oil may also contain trace amounts of THC, typically less than 0.3%.

CBD isolate, on the other hand, is made by isolating only the CBD compound from the hemp plant. It is a pure form of CBD with no other compounds present. CBD isolate is used to make various products, such as capsules, gummies, and topicals.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Now that we understand the endocannabinoid system, let us discuss what to expect when taking CBD. CBD is mild and gentle. You will not feel intoxicated or even euphoric. You will probably still feel what bothers you, but it will be much more manageable. Often these problems are signals from our bodies. To completely block out this signal is to lose communication with your body.

Taking CBD orally will promote calmness and relaxation. It will help you manage when overwhelmed and rest when you take it at night.

CBD topicals such as our 1000 mg CBD salve work immediately – within minutes, you will feel relief. However, CBD is gentle and does not entirely block out the issue. Instead, it will lower the sensation, allowing you to cope while tuning into the body's messages. CBD is a holistic alternative. It is not a cure-all. Therefore, CBD should be considered a compliment to your wellness routine. It will help you recover after a long day or a grueling workout, help you deal when overwhelmed and help when you are restless.

CBD FOR SKINCARE

The largest organ in the body is our skin, which is abundant in CBD receptors. The skin responds when using CBD skincare topicals, such as CBD body cream and CBD face cream. Check out our free CBD samples; we offer samples of our body cream, foot cream, and face cream!

CBD FOR PETS

CBD works for pets because it interacts with their bodies' endocannabinoid system (ECS), similar to the ECS in humans. The ECS is a system of receptors and chemicals that help regulate various bodily functions.

When pets consume CBD, it interacts with the ECS by binding to receptors in the brain and throughout the body. This can help promote a sense of calm and well-being. CBD for pets is also believed to help balance body systems and promote homeostasis, which is essential for overall wellness. Furthermore, CBD has no intoxicating effects, so it is safe for pets to consume. Leanna Organics offers CBD oil for pets, as well as CBD dog biscuits and CBD mini bites.

TYPES OF APPLICATION OF CBD

Internal application –The main difference between internal and external applications is that CBD taken internally reaches your bloodstream. Therefore, internal use is most useful for internal issues. Examples include CBD isolate, CBD gummy, and our organic CBD oil.

External application – Apply CBD externally every day for skincare or as needed for wellness. We infused our natural moisturizer with a generous measurement of pure CBD. Use it every day for soft and radiant skin. If you are addressing discomfort, use our CBD salve as needed or soak in a hot tub with an organic CBD bath bomb for relaxation and relief. External examples include CBD body cream, CBD salve, CBD bath bombs, CBD foot cream, CBD lip balm, CBD face cream, CBD massage oil, and CBD eye serum.

Consistency is more important than volume when taking CBD.

CBD MEASUREMENTS

HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE?

We recommend starting at a measurement of 8-16 MG per serving when taking CBD orally. Additionally, you can take CBD 2-3 times per day. Our 1000MG CBD oil will last a full 30 days if you use it 2-4 times daily at that measurement. Constancy is essential; rather than taking a bunch of CBD at once, focus on turning it into a daily habit. CBD has a cumulative effect; the most profound benefits come from consistent everyday use over two months or more. Nighttime is an excellent time to take CBD because it is a natural relaxant that will help you unwind and rest.

Topicals should be used as needed; measurement is less important than coverage. Rub one of our CBD oil salves or CBD body creams on your skin, cover the area you wish to address thoroughly, and rub it deeply into your surface for the best results.
